About Me

   I was involved in gangs as a young teenager, searching for purpose and friendship, I the gang became closer to me than my own family. Stealing, fighting, drugs, etc., became the way of life for me; in fact, I thought it was my only reason for living. I devoted all of my loyalty to the gang, I was willing to die for a man that I never even met...and who had no idea who I even was.

   My story isn't one of how smart I became, or how righteous I have become; far from it. The fact is, my life changed when I first saw my need. I saw how weak I really was, even though I had thought I was invincible. I could say with all honesty, that my life, really wasn't life at all. I thought it was, and nobody could convince me otherwise; nor did many try.

   Well, I saw my need one night; I saw that my friends, the ones I was so loyal to, cared nothing about me. "Hey, did you hear about Neil?", "Yeah, that's messed up.", "Yeah..." That was about all I was worth to them, there was no real concern, just a little kindle for the juicy gossip fire, and once the fire went out, so did I from their memories.

   There are thousands upon thousands of people in that exact same spot, and they think there is no way out; or, even worse, they don't want out. They don't see their need yet; my prayer, is that they will, and that they won't have to go down the long hard road like I did before they realize it. For some, all it takes is thier first trip with the Police. For others, they realize it when half their life is already gone; and for others, they finally realize it once on death row for the rest of their life. Of course many never realize it at all, they remain blinded until the day of their death.

   But no matter which road they choose, prison or death is the inevitable outcome. The Bible says, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but it's end is the way of death." Proverbs 14:12. There is nothing good about gangs; while they promise you freedom, it's a deadly freedom and comes with a great price. It's freedom with chains, and ends in death.
